We all have a role to play in transforming ourselves and our communities. Join us for an engaging online event where we will explore the power of allyship and accountability in creating positive change. If conflict is inevitable, then how might we engage with conflict courageously? How can we be more intentional about recognizing who we are as individuals and in relationship to others? How might we repair when we’ve intentionally or unintentionally inflicted harm to those within and beyond our own circles?
Join the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign in a virtual event On Allyship and Accountability, featuring Whitney Parnell, Founder and CEO of Service Never Sleeps (SNS) and Margari Hill, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative (MuslimARC), and learn what the acronyms CLAIM & CARE stand for as it relates to allyship and accountability.
Participants will be introduced to a framework designed by Whitney Parnell of SNS for understanding allyship “as an active way of life that centers bridge-building to ensure social justice for everyone.” Rooted in the value and condition of our shared humanity and drawing from a racial justice lens, this presentation will offer definitions, tools, and next steps. The training will also flag the barriers for addressing discrimination and promoting social justice in everyday life.
Participants will then explore a framework of anti-racist accountability drawn from our world’s spiritual and indigenous traditions, shared by Margari Hill MuslimARC. Embodying what is referred to as Prophetic communication, participants will be encouraged to hold ourselves and our communities accountable, centering the needs of the community over our individual egos, and name the tools necessary to cultivate a community from the ways of the Prophet(s).
