61st Annual Islamic Society of North America Convention

  • Hilton Anatole Dallas, TX (map)

The 61st Annual Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Convention will be held on August 30th - September 2nd, 2024 at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas, Texas. The theme of this year’s convention is The Muslim American: Forging Faith in Action

Planting Seeds for Pluralism in America: The Syeed Family

Opportunities & challenges of true and equitable religious pluralism in America

The Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign is proud to share a short poetic film, highlighting the example of Dr. Sayyid and Rafia Syeed as two among many American Muslims who have contributed to a larger interfaith movement for true and equitable pluralism in America. The Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign: Standing with American Muslims, Advancing American Ideals was founded through the sincere relationships built by ISNA’s Office of Interfaith & Community Alliances and which has grown to be an organization with it’s own unique mission of reaching and teaching people of faith beyond the Muslim community, primarily Christians & Jews, to understand and address anti-Muslim discrimination and to learn about who American Muslims are outside of an Islamophobia lens. With this year’s 61st convention theme, “The Muslim American: Forging Faith & Action”, we could not imagine a more timely opportunity to premiere this film. The Syeeds (specifically Rafia and Dr. Sayyid) built a tight web of trusted multifaith relationships locally in Bloomington, Indiana, and nationwide. They pursued this work to contribute to the great American experiment of building a pluralist democratic society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Join us on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at TIME AND LOCATION (TBD) for a conversation on “Planting Seeds for Pluralism in America: The Syeed Family,” with a conversation facilitated by the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign on the challenges and opportunities of true and equitable religious pluralism in America.
