Shoulder to Shoulder Virtual Multifaith Children’s Pre-Iftar Event

Join Shoulder to Shoulder and Children’s Book Authors, Hena Khan and Naaz Khan on Wednesday, April 13th from 5:00 - 5:45pm for a special Virtual Multifaith Children’s Pre-Iftar Event to connect with families and explore the themes of sharing & belonging this Ramadan. 

People of all ages and faith backgrounds are welcome and families with children ages 4-8 and 8-12 are especially encouraged to join us. When you register, your household will automatically enter a raffle to receive FREE books from Hena Khan and/or Naaz Khan!

Learn more about Hena Khan: Hena Khan is an award-winning Pakistani American children’s author. Her middle grade novel Amina’s Voice was named a Best Book of 2017 by the Washington Post, Kirkus Reviews, NPR, and others. The sequel, Amina’s Song, won the 2021 Asian/Pacific Award for Children Literature. She is also the author of the Zayd Saleem: Chasing the Dream series and More to the Story and enjoys featuring characters like herself and her children. Hena has written several acclaimed picture books including Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns, Night of the Moon, It’s Ramadan Curious George, Crescent Moons and Pointed Minarets, Under My Hijab and Like the Moon Loves the Sky. Learn more about Naaz Khan: Naaz Khan is an educator and author with a background in refugee resettlement. She was born in India, spent her early childhood in Saudi Arabia and then moved to the United States when she was 12 years old. Her first picture book, Room For Everyone, was published in November of 2021, and listed as one of the Best Picture Books of the year by Kirkus Reviews, Barnes and Noble, and Smithsonian Magazine. She currently works as a program coordinator at An Open Book Foundation, a literacy organization which connects students with authors, illustrators and books. In addition to writing, Naaz loves hiking, and learning how to play the ukulele. You can learn more about her and her book at naazkhan.org
